Hi! I am glad you are here! My name is Dee. For many years, I have recycled, reused, and upcycled. I have now added refuse to the list, as in refusing plastic as much as I can. I am very passionate about our environment and the health of this planet. After visitng the beautiful waters in the Carribean, I was lucky enough to watch sea turtles lay eggs on the beach and to see the baby turtles that hatched be released into the ocean. Upon watching documentaries about the dangers that plastic pollution poses to our marine wildlife, I knew I had to find a way to help spread the word. This plastic problem causes poor health and even death to many of our wonderful species. Plastic is mistaken for food and is not digestable. It takes up room in their stomach until their is no more room for food and they slowly starve to death. This not only includes those beloved sea turtles, but whales, seals, marine birds, and countless others that depend on our oceans for living. Plastic pollution also enters our food chain as microplastics. As plastic breaks down from sun exposure, it enters even the smallest of our seafood, like shrimp, when they eat. We, in turn eat the shrimp, or eat the fish that has eaten another small sea creature loaded with microplastics.
This knowledge motivated me to live a plastic free lifestyle as much as possible and to create this site so that you can find everything in one place: plastic free store, blog, DIY options, and more. Take a look around and see what you think. I would love to hear your comments and suggestions over on my blog. You can follow us on social media, as well.
